"Forgiveness isn't my speciality"įor the first mission, however, I’ll have to exact my judgements sans powers, or much of anything really. While I think Emily’s powers are more interesting, particularly the wonderful Domino, a couple of Corvo’s abilities, namely Possession and Slow Time, are more useful for manipulating and eliminating individual targets in crowded environments. For this run, I’m going to play as Corvo. My first judgement is simple, who to play as. I will be the judge, jury and executioner for all of Karnaca, safeguarding the innocent and killing the guilty. Hence, what if we extrapolated Dishonored’s core mechanic across every citizen in Dishonored 2, dispensing justice like a whalepunk Judge Dredd? That’s my plan for this run of Dishonored 2. The cities of Dunwall and Karnaca are prowled by corrupt guards and thuggish gangsters, while all manner of thieves and killers hide in plain sight among the Empire’s citizenry. Yet beyond these key imperial conspirators is an Empire bustling with criminals and rogues. Dishonored 2 never guides players toward one option or the other, yet throughout each level are documents, recordings and other environmental details that provide insight into that character’s life and personality, helping players judge for themselves the best way to deal with their target. This notion of judgement is most evident in the assassination targets Corvo and Emily pursue in each mission, who can be dispatched via lethal or nonlethal methods. What’s the best way to clear out this room? Or what’s the best way to sneak through it? How should I kill this person? Actually, should I kill them at all? Instead, those decisions are always made with a view to their potential consequences. After all, when you make decisions in Dishonored, you aren’t simply selecting from a list of potential actions, as you would order a dish from a takeaway menu.
The Dishonored games are often described as being about choice, but it might be more fitting to say they are about judgement.

Requires cosmetic DLC for full achievements. The progress is simply too slow even after 100 resets. I probably need 300 more to get all my characters to 100 and finish the last challenges. I'm only 700 hours in on Dungeon Defenders with a focus on leveling and beating all survivals/pure strategies/challenges.Warframe has achievements that can't be unlocked yet.It was soon after that I realized it's not worth it, because a lot of games have achievements that simply take way too long to do and sites like Astats have a lot of blatant cheaters, even now. I did this because I wanted a few more 100% complete games for my profile. I've used SAM to get around 15 broken, multiplayer-wise impossible achievements or otherwise way too long achievements (like playing 5k hours or matches of something). It's all on the TF2 blog in the TF2 changelogs if you want to dig back.Īnd once TF2 went Free-To-Play they implemented a minimum purchase amount on Steam ($5) to unlock trading and rare item drops to discourage creating alternate idle accounts. And I swear they made other changes to prevent idling, maybe the beginnings of the algorithm to detect idlers and not drop items, but it's been a while. I forget their exact reasons but I guess they concluded it was partly their fault for designing a system that incentivized idling.Īctually, now that I'm thinking about it, they may have banned the worst offenders with many alt accounts? I forget the details. They chose that instead of punishing idlers.

You just had to be on one of the teams in a server to qualify, so people started simply going AFK, and creating bots to do it for them, and setting up alternate Steam accounts in preparation for the eventual trading update when they could transfer all their idly-earned goods to their main account.Įventually Valve reworked the way items were rewarded to only award a hard-capped number of items per week, and gave everyone who didn't idle a special hat in commemoration. The more you played the more items you got, with no limit per week like there is now. Cosmetic items were a smaller percentage of that, making them rare. Yup, back when TF2 items were brand new, every 15 minutes of gameplay had some small chance of awarding you an item.
